Day 12, Thur. Aug 22nd

Day 12, Thur. Aug 22nd

got underway at 7:20, thru LD 24 about 8:45, dropped 15 feet, stopped at Clarksville just below, walked couple of blocks into town and bought some items at a hardware store. asked about grocery store and found out the only one was a small quickstop several blocks away. did not go.

Planned to stop at Timberlake marina at mile 257, but looked closed and abandoned so went on. Thru LD 25 at RM 241, and then on to Two Branch Marina at RM 231.
This was our longest day, 48 miles, got here about 4:00pm, gased up and got a dock for the night. First nite we had to pay for a dock fee. but has showers, restrooms, etc.
Fixed up scallopped potatos and ham in crock pot during afternoon so should be ready to eat by suppertime. had very little internet service for past two days, finally got decent service this afternoon and got some pictures upload and a couple of day page published or partially published, not perfect though, so will have to do some corrections and additions later.

Now no internet where we are docked so don’t know when this will go out

During the day, we saw lots of dredging and dredging activity, a lot of sand piles, sand islands, and rock piles where the COE in trying to maintain the channel. saw very few towboat and barges moving over the past 2-3 days, only one today.

Was a lot of dredging activity today,  this was the first big hydrolauic dredging we have seen.    This dredge uses a huge pump to pump sand and water out of channel and to shore or other areas. 29 hydrulic dredge “Potter” pumps sand out of channel with a huge pump
