Day 35 & 36 Sat-Sun, Sept 14-15
Day 35 Sat. Sept 14th
Up before sunrise this morning, but still quite windy out on lake, so just hung out, talked to other boat owners, including a couple from Muscle Shoals (near Florence), and a man who was formerly from Baldwin, Ia near Maquoketa, who had moved here and was living on houseboat.on Kentucky Lake
We have now got fishing licenses for Tennessee so may try some fishing the rest of the way, I don’t think that I will have internet connections very much of the rest of the way. only if we pull into a marina with wifi. so will probably keep a log on computer and try to make a quick upload and post if I get a a quick connection.
Got pretty cool last night, down around high 50′s. First night that we have used the blankets or sleeping bags. supposed to be cool again tonight.
Wind did die down some in early afternoon and we left Paris Landing about 1:00PM, went 12-15 miles and pulled into a bay on east side of lake, (Cane Creek Bay), went into the bay about 3 miles and anchored for the night in about 5 feet of water, we tried a little fishing but no luck at all, I think the water was to shallow and most fish are still a little deeper where water is cooler.
We made supper of fried eggs and hot dogs , with our cake for dessert.. About dusk, we were seriaded by coyotes that were howling and yipping in the nearby woods and hills, also a few owls. Cooled down after sunset and we crawled into sleeping bags and blankets
There was not internet connections or even cell phone service in this area.

Day 36, Sun Sept 15th
We woke up to a real cool morning to a layer of fog over the bay, Temperature outside was 49 degrees, but in the cabin it was still a balmy 52 degrees, Fog lifted after an hour and we headed out. There was still a brisk wind out of the SE , but nothing like Friday. we stayed on the east side of channel as much as possible and the navigation channell was toward the east bank much of the way.
My GPS charts show a lot of historucal landing which are now under water and we are going right over them. They were probably small communitys or a few houses were river traffic stopped.
at about mile 91, we started going past some large weedbeds along the surface of the water with a lot of bass fisherman work the edges of the weedbeds.
then stopped at Pebble Isle Marina on east bank and up a small bay for more gas and to download this blog and photos with their wifi. may not have internet again for a couple of days. Stan used their courtesy car to go to a local grocery store a couple of miles away.
Then continued on another 6-7 miles and pulled into Birdsong Creek to try a little fishing, No luck with the fishing We decided it was a good place to anchor so we spent the night there. Fished till almost dark then showered and went to bed. shower uses lake water through our filter system and water heater, but the water is warm enough to not even turn on the heater.
